Self-managed National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants are billed at the same rate as private clients, reflecting the true cost of providing services.
This rate is capped by the National Disability Insurance Scheme, and is not a reflection of the true cost of providing services.

The NDIS will cover $193.99/ hour for Occupational Therapy services
Please contact your private health insurer to determine the rebates for Occupational Therapy, depending on your level of cover.
An invoice will be issued after the appointment for payment. The applicable amounts can then be claimed back from the NDIS, or private health insurer.
"You can also [self] manage parts of your plan, but have a plan manager or the NDIA to help you manage the rest. You can ask us [the NDIA] to change how you manage your plan at any time".
"We may include NDIS supports in your plan that you can use to help you learn how to self-manage. For example, you might buy an online training package to help with things like learning to budget and keeping records. Or you might buy bookkeeping services to help..." (Your Guide to Self-management, NDIS).
The Australian Psychologist Association suggested fees for 2024-2025 has the standard 46 to 60-minute consultation fee at $311.
The Australian Physiotherapy Association has also recommended that "physiotherapy supports to be indexed in line with the Wage Price Index and Consumer Price Index". Their report published 17/09/2025, named "Hourly rate for the provision of physiotherapy services", recommends $365/ hour for Physiotherapists with specialisation.
The Australian Physiotherapy Association's report, "Review of the 2024-25 APR with respect to physiotherapy" dated 21 October 2025 states, "...true market rate lies between $215 to $259 per hour..." (page 6).
When thinking about what a provider costs, it is important to consider appointment length. Shorter appointments may appear less expensive but offer less time. For example, a provider may charge $100 for a 20 minute appointment (e.g. the Medicare OT appointment minimum duration), which equates to $300/ hour.
